(C45s)Tainted Love-Where Did Our Love Go/ Where Did Our Love Go by Soft Cell

Label: Sire PRO-S-1028 Year: 1982
Picture sleeve included: M-

Condition: M $25.00
Tainted Love-Where Did Our Love Go/ Where Did Our Love GoEveryone who hit the dance floors in the early 1980s heard this one. But when they'd go to buy a copy at the record store, all they'd find was "Tainted Love" and maybe "Where Did Our Love Go" ... but 45 collectors were out in the cold in searching for this medley the DJs were spinning.

Turns out that's because the medley was only available in record stores as an extended cut on the group's 12-inch single release. The shorter, 45 rpm version of the medley appeared only on this promo copy. The A side has "Tainted Love," which segues into an edited version of "Where Did Our Love Go." The medley has a running time of 3:58. On the flip is a different—and longer (4:10)—edit of "Where Did Our Love Go."

Incidentally, "Tainted Love" was the biggest single of the year in the group's native U.K. It also hit the top of the charts in 17 countries. In the U.S., it broke the current record for the number of weeks a single spent on the Billboard Hot 100 chart—logging 43 weeks! It just took a long time for the single to gather airplay momentum here.

This copy comes with a copy of the cool picture sleeve that accompanied the retail release of "Tainted Love/Memorabilia."
