Jukebox "Snippet" 45s: Chronological List of Site Additions
As I add 45s to our inventory, I pick select 45s to highlight with mp3 "snippets" so you can hear the music yourself. I only record "snippets" of tunes I particularly like, ones I think have been under-played and under-appreciated, or ones that are so rare and wonderful I'll never hear them otherwise. For myself, I keep an iTunes playlist of these "snippets," and that playlist is one I listen to most often. These pages chronicle the mp3 "snippets" I've added to our online "jukebox" in reverse chronological order. You can browse the pages to see what was added and when. Click on the blue "Play" button to play the snippet, or click on a song's title to load the page. Many of these 45 records are still for sale, though just as many have been sold. I hope you enjoy perusing these pages as much as I have enjoyed putting them together!

The Gaslight
1971, Grand Junction 1100 Genre: Northern Soul, Philly Style
This group had several singles in the early 1970s, all highly sought-after today by fans of Northern Soul. This one has a sweet Soul ballad on the A side and a terrific Philly style dancer on the flip... A B side not to be missed!
This early Stereo release features two dynamite recordings... The Funky Soul-style A side grabbed me so hard I just had to make an mp3 "snippet" for you to hear. Well worth seeking out, I hope you'll agree!
Here's a beautiful, rarely-seen copy of the original 1966 pressing of this Northern Soul classic ("I'm Gonna Miss You"). Actually, a lot of fans prefer the more uptempo B side... which definitely doubles the fun of this "single"! Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to hear what I mean.
The drummer son of renowned jazz pianist Thelonius Monk steps out on his own in a delightful way with this Funk number, which has a unique swing that called out for an mp3 "snippet" so you can hear, too. Enjoy!
If this guy's voice sounds familiar, that's because he was lead vocalist for the Spinners from 1971-77. This was his first solo single, which became his biggest chart hit. The A side ("Hats Off..") is a nice ballad, but I took a shining to the uptempo Philly-style dancer on the flip ("Like A Loser..."), so check out the mp3 "snippet" of it. The artist's last name is spelled "Wynn" with the "e" on this release.
Here's a beautiful copy of the band's rare, very first single, which somehow failed to chart though it's an essential tune from the band's repertoire. Amazingly, this is the first original release of this single I've yet had to offer in the store, and it has pristine Mint audio... Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet"!
Here's a real rarity... so rare it's not listed in any of my normal reference books! And yet, what a great sound! Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to hear why Northern Soul fans in the know go nuts over it.
These two great Chicago tunes (the B side is "I'm A Man") have an interesting history as singles. "Questions" (perhaps my personal favorite Chicago song) was the group's first single, released in 1969 on Columbia 44909, and it had a much longer version of the song than on later releases. That first single only climbed as high as #71 on the pop chart. The song was re-released in an edited version (one verse missing) on this single, backed by the group's dynamite cover of "I'm A Man", and finally made it to the Top 40 1971. The audio on this copy is so gorgeous I had to make an mp3 "snippet" of the A side... check it out!
Here's a beautiful copy of this rare and wonderful Funky Soul single from the early 1970s, when the musical form was beginning to die out, sad to say. I started to make an mp3 "snippet" of the hard-charging A side, but ultimately decided the groove on the B side was too sweet to let go by. So have a listen to "I'm Ridin'"!

King Floyd & Dorothy Moore

Here's a beautiful copy of this outstanding collaboration between King Floyd & Dorothy Moore... both tracks are well worth seeking out, but I instantly heard the virtues in the A side, so have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" in our "jukebox". Hope you like it as much as I do!
"Melt" is one of the quintessential recordings of the early 1980s British New Wave. Though it failed to get much airplay here when first released, it had a second life in 1990 when re-released on the TVT label. Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to hear it.

Drifters
1957, Atlantic Oldies 13139 Genre: Vocal Groups (Doo-Wop)
After their 1955 version of "White Christmas," this was the Drifters' first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart ... though they had had years of huge hits in the Black/RnB market. With Clyde McPhatter singing lead, this one is always a thrill to revisit, so I'm adding a new mp3 "snippet" of it in case you don't already know its great pleasures. :-)
This terrific Philly-style dancer clocks in at less than 2 1/2 minutes... It's one of those super-short songs I always rave about. :-) It's also a non-album single, since the track doesn't appear on the group's only LP. I liked it so much I made an mp3 "snippet" for you to hear... Enjoy!
I finally found a beautiful original pressing of this classic Bobby Bland tune, which Dave Marsh pegs at #707 on his list of the 1,001 greatest singles of all time. This is the first original I've had since opening the store in 2001! Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to understand why I'm so excited about this. :-)
Here's a beautiful Mint copy of one my two favorite Linda Ronstadt recordings — the other being "Long Long Time." This single is frustratingly hard to find in Near Mint or better condition — even on reissue.
